Who We Are
The Broomfield Civic Chorus is a community organization offering opportunities for musical expression, civic participation, and friendship in Broomfield and the surrounding communities. We are a mixed voice choral group comprised of individuals of various backgrounds and experience who share a love of singing together. We are a volunteer, non-auditioned chorus and welcome those who want to join us in singing together.
The Broomfield Civic Chorus was founded by Elis-Barbara Schipper in 1988. Over the years our group has grown from the original 25 members to include as many as 40-45 singers. The Chorus continues to serve the Broomfield community in Colorado with seasonal concerts and commemorative performances since its founding. In June, 2007, through the dedication of our leadership and chorus members, we joined other area choruses in performing Fauré’s “Requiem” at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Upcoming Events
Rehearsals for our 2024 Winter/Spring performances are on Monday evenings beginning on January 15, 2024. At present, all rehearsals are held at the Presbyterian Church of Broomfield (map link) at 350 Main St. in Broomfield. If you are interested in singing with us, you a welcome to come to our rehearsals and get to know our director and the chorus members. Park in the lot on the south side of the church and enter through the southeast doors of the kitchen. We rehearse in the sanctuary of the chapel. The chorus is a civic organization and not affiliated with the church but are grateful to the use of the church facility.
Our Mission
Our mission is to present a season of choral concerts to our community, to perform as requested by our community at public celebrations and events, and to provide singers and instrumentalists in our community an rewarding musical experience that does not require an audition. We welcome all those interested in singing with us to join. Our concerts are for music lovers of all ages and include songs from Broadway musicals, movie musical hits, spirituals, folk and patriotic songs and other musical styles.
